Florida became a state on March 3, 1845.
Tallahassee is the capital – the word Tallahassee means old town.
Florida is ranked 22 in size with 65,498sq. miles.
Florida borders two states Georgia and Alabama. Florida is surrounded by three different bodies of water The Gulf of Mexico, The Atlantic Ocean, and the Straits of Florida.

91.2% of Florida’s population lives in urban areas, while the last 8.8% live in rural areas.

-The median household income in Florida is $57,703 per year.
-Florida does allow homeschooling as long as the parents can provide education just as good as a public school.
-To hunt in Florida you would need an FL hunting license unless they are exempt from the requirement.
– In order to buy a firearm in Florida you must be at least 21 years of age.
-To get a concealed carry permit you must provide proof of proficiency with a firearm.

Economy

– The majority of Florida’s agriculture is oranges, greenhouse and nursery products, cane for sugar, and cattle and calves.
– Florida’s main industrial footholds are aerospace, life sciences, manufacturing, homeland security, and information technology.
– Florida’s leading manufacturers produce aerospace products, batteries, food and beverages, communications equipment, pharmaceuticals, and boats. I-75 is the longest interstate in Florida.
Florida doesn’t have a state personal tax. Florida’s average real property tax rate is 0.98% which happens to be lower than the U.S. average of 1.08%. There is no special tax on buying/owning automobiles other than the original 6% sales tax
as of 2021 the GSP in Florida is roughly $1.2 trillion. Florida makes up about 5.23%
of the U.S. GDP which is $21trillion.

Trivia

Famous singer and child show actress Ariana Grande was born in Florida and lived here for about 18 years of her life. She studied at Pine Crest School and North Broward Preparatory School before she left to go pursue an acting career at the age of 19.
