SISTERS AND SONS INTRODUCES A DRAGON’S FANCY

Welcome to Dragon’s Fancy, a growing multi-generational family garden rooted in the Blue Ridge spirit of beauty, stewardship, hospitality, and discovery. Our dream is to create a place where flowers, fruit, family stories, and quiet moments in nature can be shared across generations.

We are imagining more than a traditional flower farm. Dragon’s Fancy will be a living cottage garden and homestead landscape: roses climbing arbors, fuchsias brightening porches, native plants welcoming pollinators, orchard paths, seasonal flower beds, and garden spaces that become more beautiful and meaningful with time. The goal is not perfection overnight, but a deeply loved place that grows in layers—one planting, path, project, and family memory at a time.

Our gardens will blend practical growing with a little wonder. We hope to raise flowers for cutting, sharing, workshops, photography, and seasonal arrangements, while also building gardens that feed birds, bees, butterflies, and people. Native plants will provide an ecological backbone, while roses, cottage-garden flowers, herbs, and unusual plant combinations bring fragrance, color, and a sense of old-fashioned abundance.

A gentle storybook feeling will be part of the experience, but never in a loud or artificial way. We are drawn to small discoveries: a flash of light in a tree, a weathered stone detail that seems to suggest a tiny door, a pathway that leads around a corner, or something beautiful that can only be noticed by slowing down. At Dragon’s Fancy, the gardens may hold a few secrets for visitors who take the time to look.

Because this is a family project, the garden will have room for many kinds of participation. Some of us may plant and harvest, while others may build, cook, welcome guests, photograph the changing seasons, care for the land, lead workshops, or simply enjoy a quiet chair beneath the trees. We want this to be a place where children, parents, grandparents, friends, and future guests each find a reason to feel connected.

Over time, we hope Dragon’s Fancy can grow into a small destination for garden experiences, creative workshops, farm stays, and meaningful gatherings. But its heart will always remain the same: a family homestead shaped by care for the land, a love of flowers, and the belief that beauty is worth making space for.

Walk slowly. The gardens have their own small secrets.
